Commonly asked questions after Replacement Surgeries


Newer implants made of oxinium, ceramic and highly cross-linked polyethylene last longer. Evidence suggests that these newer implants can last up to 30 years; however, it also depends upon the usage.

Generally, 3-5 days with 1 or 2 days before your Surgery and 2-3 days after the Surgery.

Most often, you will be able to walk on the same day of Surgery. You will be able to go to the washroom and do a few stairs on the same day, you will be operated.

3-5 days. Walking in the house, going to the toilets, sitting out of bed, etc., you can resume as soon as you are discharged from the hospital.

Sitting in the car will be possible after the Surgery, but driving will take around a month.

A walker or stick may be required after the Surgery for up to 2-4 weeks until your body adapts to the new joint and you have the confidence to walk independently. Most patients can walk independently without support at around 2 weeks after the Surgery.

We often use concealed stitches, so there are no stitches that need removal.
