Dr Mayank Vijayvargiya is currently working as a Consultant in Orthopedics at P.D. Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Mahim, Mumbai. He has more than a decade of experience in Orthopedics and has performed various orthopedic surgeries successfully.
Dr Mayank Vijayvargiya is a leading Joint Replacement Surgeon in Mumbai and is one of the few in India to offer full functional Replacement Surgeries where patients can resume Indian cultural practises of sitting on the floor, squatting even after a replacement surgery. He is also well known for his pioneer work in the field of AVN, where he offers non-surgical management for AVN.
Dr Mayank Vijayvargiya completed his MBBS from prestigious T.N. Medical College and Nair Hospital, Mumbai, and went onto pursue his post-graduation (M.S. Orthopedics) from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. After completing his post-graduation, he received Fellowships in Replacement Surgeries and Trauma at P.D. Hinduja National Hospital, Mahim, Mumbai.
He has received international training in Complex Replacement Surgeries and Revision surgeries both nationally and internationally. He received his training in managing Complex and Revision Total Hip and Knee replacement surgeries from Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Trust, Edge Hill University, England. He has also received training in Unicompartment Knee replacement (Uni Replacement) from Nuffield Orthopedic Centre, Oxford, England. He has also attended various cadaveric courses both nationally (Dehradun, Delhi and Bangalore) and internationally (Chula Lab, Thailand).
He has also received training in Robotic and Navigation Joint Replacement Surgeries both nationally and internationally. He has also received training from various stalwarts in the field of orthopedics both in India and abroad.
He has delivered various lectures as a Faculty in various National and International conferences. He has a keen interest in research work and has 37 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals. He is also a part of teaching programme at Hinduja Hospital and has trained various residents and fellows.
He has keen interest in managing “Avascular Necrosis” with medical management and has published 6 articles in peer-reviewed international journals about the same.
He is a pioneer in performing normal physiological Joint Replacement surgeries restoring normal life. Current challenge faced with the replacement surgeries in India is the ability of the patients to return back to Indian cultural practices of sitting on the floor, squatting, yoga or using Indian toilets. Dr Mayank Vijayvargiya specializes in a technique of Joint Replacement Surgeries wherein his patients can sit on the floor, squat or sit cross-legged, restoring normal life with no limitations.
